MONOÏ

Monoï de Tahiti is a sacred oil that has passed through centuries, even used in every morning’s bath by the Queen Pommare IV. It is a cherished staple for medicinal, remedial, and ritual use.

It is said that Atea, the Oceanic God of Creation, and Tane, the God of Beauty created the Tiare flower. It is symbolic to Polynesia, used to express greetings, as an accessory, and in searching for love. It has a bewitching scent that can be smelled all over Tahiti.

The Tiare flower lives only for one day, blooming in the morning and passing by evening.

Monoï is made from harvesting the Tiare buds at first light to preserve its benefits, and macerating it in coconut oil, which is then purified by filtration.

Traditionally, Monoï is made at home by mothers and grandmothers in Tahiti and passed down, unique from family to family. This type of Monoï can still be procured in its raw state from the Papeete market, the heart of the capital of Tahiti.

TAHITIAN PROVERB

APPELLATION OF ORIGIN (AO)

Like Champagne, Monoï is not Monoï unless produced precisely to the standards passed down by generations of Traditional Tahitian healers.

Due to counterfeit productions, flawed perfume, and use of poor-quality coconut oil, the production of Monoï is protected by a formal Decree.

The Label of Origin (Appellation d'Origine, AO) is a seal that guarantees the sourcing, quality, and production of Monoï.

All of Moeāvā products are labelled with the official Monoï de Tahiti, Label of Origin, authenticating the superior quality of Monoï used in our formula.
